Nimbula Co-Founder and VP of Products to Present at Interop's Enterprise Cloud Summit - July 20, 2010

Menlo Park - July 21, 2010 - Nimbula, the Cloud Operating System Company, today announced that Willem van Biljon, co-founder and vice president of products of Nimbula, will present at Interop's Enterprise Cloud Summit in New York on October 18, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. ET.

In van Biljon's talk titled "Infrastructure and Platforms: A Combined Strategy," he will look at what IT executives need to deploy to create a true cloud environment. Clouds aren't just on-demand machines. A successful cloud – whether private or public – requires both compute infrastructure and a set of services for storage, message queueing, parallel computation and more.

Van Biljon is a senior technology executive and entrepreneur. Prior to founding Nimbula, he was part of the team that led the Amazon EC2 development effort. Prior to joining Amazon, he was a co-founder of Mosaic Software, which was acquired by S1 Corp.

Last month Nimbula, backed by Sequoia Capital and VMware (NYSE: VMW), came out of stealth mode and was a GigaOM Structure 2010 LaunchPad! Finalist. This month Nimbula was named one of the most exciting cloud computing startups to keep an eye on.

According to William Fellows, Principal Analyst at the 451 Group, "bottling the magic of cloud has been something of a holy grail as enterprises seek ways to gain the same kinds of benefits internally that public cloud infrastructure supports. While some of the benefits of public clouds will accrue in a private cloud, there's no getting away from the fact that economies of scale and the degree of elasticity that can be achieved will be determined by the size of the cloud. However, Nimbula is seeking to blur this distinction – as far as it's concerned, flexibility and rate of change are the key, not who owns the computer."
