Network World Names Nimbula an 'Innovative Tech Startup for the Virtualization and Cloud Computing Age' - October 25, 2010
Mountain View, CA – October 26, 2010 - Nimbula, the Cloud Operating System Company, today announced that Network World named it one of 25 new IT companies to watch, the latest in a series of accolades for the company. Nimbula was recently named one of 50 companies to watch in The Wall Street Journal, was hailed as one of the most exciting cloud computing startups to keep an eye on, was a GigaOM Structure 2010 LaunchPad! Finalist and was dubbed one of three cloud properties ready to burst by Fortune.
"At Network World, we've identified 25 IT startups that we think are worth watching," wrote Jon Brodkin, senior writer at Network World. "Most of these startups, in one form or another, are attempting to fuel the shift from static IT infrastructures to virtualized data centers and cloud networks. Analysts say the biggest opportunities may be in software that can manage, secure and accelerate cloud-based and virtualized systems."
Nimbula, which emerged from stealth mode in June 2010, was founded by former Amazon executives Chris Pinkham and Willem van Biljon, who led the development of the Amazon EC2 public cloud service. Nimbula's business and technology focus is on blending EC2-like scale, agility and efficiency with private infrastructure customization and control. Nimbula recently closed a Series B round of financing – bringing the total to more than $20 million in funding from VCs Accel Partners and Sequoia Capital.
